Easter Engagement
So I have found a new love ... decorating tables! Specifically if it involves lots of homemade decorations, bunnies galore and an engagement to celebrate!
Over the Easter bank holiday my twin brother got engaged to his beautiful girlfriend so the simple* Easter Monday lunch I had planned got a total makeover in honour of the occasion!
*OK, so I rarely do things by halves. The Easter lunch I had planned original probably would have been just as fabulous without the engagement...However, with the last minute surprise engagement (surprise for her, I've known about it for over a year!) I was ecstatic to be able to go totally over the top with ALL the decorations I had planned. Added to that a last minute dash to Hobbycraft to purchase some personalised touches, I was able to present the newly engaged couple, along with the rest of the Currie Clan, a surprise engagement party!
Besides an egg hunt of over a 100 eggs throughout my house, the party consisted of:
• Hand blown/painted eggs with hand painted names - wrapped in 'bunny ear' napkins
• Origami rabbits made from pages of a french newspaper (for no other reason than it having large amounts of text - ooh la la indeed)
• Gorgeous copper 'dipped' gift tags from Hobbycraft (link here)
• Glass jars with mini Lindt bunnies and mini eggs
• Vintage plates collected mainly from an antiques place in Horncastle
• Tea cups and saucers (what else would you serve the soup starter in?!) - a collection I have gathered from my Mum and future sister-in-law
• Gold wire letters with the couples initials (again from my dash to Hobbycraft, link here)
• Printed pictures of the happy couple - from a Facebook ransack
• Hand painted 'Happy Easter' sign that I guess was no longer relevant, but I'd spent so long painting it I didn't want to leave it in the box ...
• Alcohol-free cocktails: Elderflower and lime cordials with lemonade and slices of fresh pink grapefruit (admittedly this was mainly because the fruit looked so pretty)
• Pink frilly paper hanging things...I got these from Home Bargains and was very confused with how to assemble them ... turns out they are very easy, and seemingly even easier to make them from scratch next time!
• And finally, lots of fresh flowers!!
Food was also served, but to be completely honest, it was secondary to the decorations.
